Daniel Broby - CEO, Danfonds
Daniel Broby joined Danfonds Aps from Renaissance Investment Management (UK) Limited where he was Chief Executive Officer and oversaw the successful launch of the Renaissance Africa Fund, the Global Macro Fund for RIM (UK) and the offshore Renaissance Russia Infrastructure Fund for RIM. Daniel was a board member of CFA (UK) for over 10 years and was the CFA Institute’s President Council Representative for Europe, Middle East and Africa for four years.
Jenni Chamberlain - Director, Finch Asset Management
Jenni Chamberlain is Director of Finch Asset Management and Portfolio Manager for the Finch Africa Fund. Prior to joining Finch, Jenni served as Chief Executive Officer of Securities Africa Limited, the Pan-African Investment Bank and as Managing Director - Africa, EMEA institutional sales at HSBC Investment Bank in both London and New York.
Slim Feriani - Managing Director, Progressive Developing Markets
Slim joined Progressive in 2005. Between 2000 and 2004 he was a Senior Portfolio Manager and Director at Martin Currie Investment Management on their GEM portfolios, and hedge fund products in Asia and international portfolios in the Global Products Group. Prior to this Slim worked as a Senior Investment Analyst on the Middle East and North Africa region at Nomura. Between 1989 and 1996 he taught as Professor of Finance and International Finance at The George Washington University, completing an MBA in Finance & Investments in 1989 and a Ph.D. on the same subject in 1995.
Henry Hall - Managing Director, Global Emerging Market Equities, Merrill Lynch
Henry Hall is responsible for the structuring, sales and financing of Global Emerging Market equity linked products and for Merrill’s overall emerging markets equity strategy, in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Instrumental to Merrill's EMEA equity strategy has been expansion into the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa and other frontier equity markets. A key component to the expansion has been to bring Frontier Markets to clients in an easy to access format such as Merrill's Africa Lions Index and the Frontier Markets Index. Prior to joining Merrill, he worked in emerging markets at Credit Suisse and JP Morgan. He also practiced law with Skadden, Arps in New York and Hong Kong. He received a Juris Doctorate from Harvard University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Management Accountant.
Richard Segal - Fixed Income Strategist, Renaissance Capital
Richard Segal is a fixed income strategist at Renaissance Capital, which specializes in the Russian, CIS and sub-Saharan markets. Previously, he was chief strategist for Argo Capital, an emerging markets hedge fund. Earlier in his career, Mr. Segal worked at institutions such as Salomon Brothers, Bank of America and Santander Investment. During his career, he has developed a variety of economic and financial models, concerning sovereign risk, term structure of bonds, and relative value of currencies and commodities. Mr. Segal is the editor and co-author of an African capital markets guide, the author of "Hitting the Tenspot", "The Russian Economy in 1994" and was a contributing author to "The Handbook of International Investing." Mr. Segal has a degree in economics from MIT. Finally, he writes a monthly column for the Polish City Club.
Dominic Scriven OBE - Director, Dragon Capital Group
Of Dominic’s twenty-two years in investment, twenty have been spent in Asia, principally Hong Kong and Vietnam. He has worked for, among others, M&G Investment Management, Sun Hung Kai and Co (publicly listed in Hong Kong), and Citicorp Investment Bank. Prior to moving to Vietnam, he was actively involved in fund management, corporate finance, and securities trading in many of Asia's developing capital markets. In 1991 he moved to Vietnam, spending two years enrolled at Hanoi University, before he co-founded Dragon Capital Group in 1994. A Vietnamese speaker, he sits on the boards of numerous non-Vietnamese companies, including Dragon Capital Group, its subsidiaries and funds managed by them, as well as on the boards of a number of Vietnamese companies, including one joint stock bank and four other companies listed on the Vietnam Stock Exchange.
Remy Briand -Global Head of Index Research, MSCI Barra
Remy Briand joined MSCI in 2001 as Head of the Benchmark Research Group focusing on research on equity indices. Mr. Briand joined MSCI from Credit Lyonnais Asset Management in Paris where he held the position of Head of Research and managed a team of financial analysts covering Europe. In this capacity, he was also a member of the firm's equity investment committee. Prior to this role, Mr. Briand managed several European small cap funds having begun his career as a private equity analyst at Credit Lyonnais. Mr. Briand is in charge of the continual expansion, refinement and improvement of MSCI indices. He oversees the research on methodological and index design matters related to new and existing indices and manages a global team of researchers located in New York, London, Geneva, Hong Kong and Mumbai. Remy Briand is also leading MSCI Barra's applied research effort. In close contact with MSCI Barra's clients, the applied research group identifies early stage investment trends.
